    The next meeting of the North Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group has been arranged for Monday July 23rd 2018 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm.

    This meeting will be held in the Medical Physics room of the Radiotherapy section of the Cancer Treatment Department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

    Access to the meeting room is through the main entrance of the Cancer Treatment Department, passed the cafeteria and reception areas, and is on the right just before the Radiotherapy reception and will be signposted.

    Maggie Pierce, the patient experience manager of the Patient Advice & Support Service (PAS) will be attending to give us an update regarding the project which is operating from the main entrance of Glan Clwyd hospital.

    Our meeting will follow the usual format with plenty of time for discussion and exchange of views, followed by refreshments.

    The Cancer Thriving and Surviving Courses are free and designed to help people manage the impact of cancer.

    The courses take place in community settings. Each session is for two and a half hours, once a week and the whole course lasts six weeks.

    Workshops are facilitated by two trained leaders, one or both of whom are peers who are cancer survivors themselves or who are affected by someone who lives with the condition.

    Subjects covered include:

    1. techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep and living with uncertainty
    2. appropriate exercise for regaining and maintaining flexibility, and endurance
    3. making decisions about treatment and complementary therapies
    4. communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals
    5. nutrition
    6. setting priorities
    7. relationships

    Would you like to find out more about how you can help yourself to manage your condition and feel more in control of your health and wellbeing?

    Macmillan Cancer Support, in partnership with cancer services in North Wales, organises regular Health and Well-Being Events, offering a wide range of information and support. They are free and anyone affected by cancer will be very welcome – including patients, family and friends.

    Events will offer information and support on:

    • Diet, physical activity and lifestyle
    • The possible long-term effects of treatment
    • Fatigue management and emotional support
    • Benefits and financial advice
    • Access to local support in your area

    There will be an opportunity to speak to professionals and meet others who may have had a similar experience.

    You are welcome to come with a family member or friend.

    Refreshments will be provided.
