Macmillan Wrexham Support Buddies is a new volunteer-led service which aims to provide practical and emotional support to people affected by cancer, including carers and family members. Initially the service will be supporting people in the Wrexham area, but with a view to extending the scheme across North Wales.
Volunteers will be fully trained and will provide support which could be tailored to the individual needs of those affected by cancer, for a couple of hours a week or so over an agreed period of time.
Support could include helping around the house, assistance with shopping, giving lifts to appointments, preparing a light meal, signposting to other services or simply having a chat over a cup of tea.
If you are someone who could benefit from having volunteer support you can ask your Health Professional to contact us on your behalf. More information can be found here.
